TWAC is required regardless of visa type. Whether you enter visa-free, on an e-Visa, or a TECO visa - you must complete the TWAC. The sections below show your visa requirement only. The TWAC is always a separate, additional step.

Visa-Free Entry - 90 Days
Citizens of the following countries may enter Taiwan without a visa for up to 90 days. All must still complete the TWAC before arrival - visa-free status does not exempt you from the TWAC.

Trial Visa-Free Entry - 30 Days
The following nationalities are eligible for trial visa-free entry under a temporary program valid until July 31, 2027. All must still complete the TWAC before arrival - visa-free status does not exempt you from the TWAC.

Program Expiry
The trial visa-free program expires on July 31, 2027. Travelers from Brunei, Philippines and Thailand should verify current requirements before booking travel.
Visa-Free Entry for Third-Country Visa Holders
Nationals of any country who hold a valid visa or permanent residence from any of the following countries are entitled to 30-day visa-free entry to Taiwan, regardless of their own nationality's standard requirements. The TWAC must still be completed before arrival.

The visa or residence permit must be valid. This provision is especially useful for travelers whose own nationality would otherwise require a Taiwan visa.
e-Visa Required
Citizens of the following countries must obtain a Taiwan e-Visa online before travel at visawebapp.boca.gov.tw. The TWAC must be completed separately in addition to the e-Visa.

Visa Required - Apply at Taiwan TECO Office
Citizens of the following regions must obtain a Taiwan visitor visa from a Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) before travel. The TWAC must be completed separately in addition to the visa.

All sub-Saharan African countries except Eswatini and Seychelles (which have visa-free access) require a TECO visa.
